videoprojection loop 2＊08
‘Bang Bang’, Witte Moor, Ghent (BE)
By means of a series of daily taken black & white photographs a public space was observed over a period of about 3 months.
The frame is virtually identical and a number of fixed elements occur in every image: a bench, a group of trees, the shadow of a building outside of the frame.
In the videoprojection flashes appear of these images, alternated by a black screen.
It seems that perception cannot cope with the speed of what is seen but through the sharp contrast an after image remains, and if the spectator takes some more time to focus, the recurring elements help to find the variables.
